Wild Hideaway
In October 2001 Wild Frontiers' founder, Jonny Bealby, was given land by the Kalash to build his own mountain hideaway high in the Hindu Kush.
Given what had just happened in New York, a real estate venture in this part of the world might to many seem a rather foolhardy plan… but not to Jonny. Undeterred by such cataclysmic events he set to building the small but beautiful two room house with a view truly fit for the gods.
Two years later, by the time we were back taking groups to Pakistan, the hideaway was ready, a year after that we got our water supply sorted (from a delicious nearby mountain spring) and last year finished building a loo!
Since then we have added another room, a small kitchen, a two-tier terraced garden and are currently in the process of putting in an infinity plunge pool… surely the only one of those in the Hindu Kush!
Situated 2,600m above sea level on an ancient trekking route between the valley of Rumbur and Chitral, surrounded by high peaks, pine forests and the clear open sky, Wild Frontiers' Hideaway is quite simply one of the most amazing and remote place you are ever likely to stay.
The Hideaway is available on all our group tours to the Kalash and for tailored clients to book through the office in London. So go and escape from the world in a pure mountain paradise!
