For more than a decade the holiday Mecca of Kashmir has been considered out of bounds. Not any more. Having spent a considerable amount of time there in 2005, we have returned each subsequent year and see no reason to change. Of our tours to Kashmir, our blue ribbon trip has to be this High Road to Kashmir itinerary. We have since made it even better by including the stunning Zanskar Valley. Starting with an epic flight over the Himalayas to Leh, you will see ancient monasteries, rural life and the Ladakh Festival. Then you will proceed on what is generally regarded as the most spectacular road in the whole Himalaya via the remote Nubra Valley and Lamayuru to Kargil, and on into the Zanskar Valley for some gorgeous valley exploring. At the end of the road lies Srinagar and its beautiful lakes. This itinerary will not be for everyone, but for those with a real sense of adventure and a desire to be there early, this is sure to prove one of the best trips of the year.
