Wakhan Corridor Trek: Tajikistan & Afghanistan

As many of you will be aware, Wild Frontiers is a company that has been set up by travellers for travellers and the company ethos has always been to help adventurous souls get to incredible places that would otherwise remain inaccessible. We are therefore truly proud to be able to offer this real adventure into Afghanistan’s famous Wakhan Corridor. Following on from our recce trip to the region in 2009, we have increased the duration of the trip in order to give us more time in this narrow strip of land that once formed the buffer zone between the British & Russian Empires. It was of immense strategic importance during the 19th century Great Game, though today the area, inhabited predominantly by Wakhi herdsmen is remote, peaceful and blessed with some of the finest mountain scenery the world has to offer. From Dushanbe in Tajikistan we will travel first to the Afghan border at Ishkashim, cross over and make our way to the start of our trek, deep in the Afghan Pamir. Taking a circular route our trek will take us up into the Little Pamir to the idyllic Cheqmaqtin Lake before returning via a higher and more demanding route (including a 4,887m pass) to our base at Sarhad-e Broghil. If we are on schedule, then there may even be time for a side trip to the Broghil Pass (3882m) for a chance to look down into Pakistan.
    
This is a trip right out there on the edge of civilisation: you will find no mobile reception, internet access or even electricity for the most part! What you will experience here will take you back to another century when people lived in a very different way… unlike so many you hear about, this trip is sure to be a true adventure of a life time.

Wild Frontiers Price Policy

At Wild Frontiers we believe our clients are savvy enough to see through heavily discounted 'first price' holiday offers and would rather know before they leave home exactly what their tour is going to cost. As such we do not charge local payments, 'optional extras' or force our clients to go through the annoying procedure of splitting every meal bill. With the odd exception our tours are provided on a predominantly full board basis, with mineral water, government passes and permits, entrance fees, and all transport outlined in the various tour itineraries included.
