Wild Horses
Horse treks and riding holidays around the world
In our opinion there are few better ways of witnessing the wonders of nature than enjoying the exciting and exhilarating adventure of horse trekking. To be up in the mountains on a fine local horse, drifting through the tall grass, across crystal streams and wild open steppe lands, above and beyond the worries of mankind with only the eagles and the nomads for company, is a truly uplifting experience.
Likewise to ride across the Andes with local gauchos, or through Indian villages where few westerners have ventured, to gallop over the North African deserts or witness the extraordinary landscapes of the Okavango Delta from the saddle, are experiences that are sure to stay with you for a very long time.
At Wild Frontiers we believe that certain countries lend themselves perfectly to this kind of adventure holiday.
We currently have trips running to eight locations - Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Rajasthan, Georgia, Ethiopia, Ecuador and across the Andes from Chile to Argentina - and this number is constantly on the rise… mainly as WF’s head honcho, Jonny Bealby – author of Silk Dreams, Troubled Road: On Horseback through Central Asia – is rather partial to these trips.
And with champion-jockey Richard Dunwoody also involved in running the business, and in particular our horse trekking department, we are constantly on the look out for saddling up some new adventures. Richard led a new trip to Tajikistan in summer 2008 and Mongolia in 2009, while Jonny pioneered a new route across the Andes also in 2009.
In 2010 we will be setting up more new horse riding adventures, including an amazing safari through the Okovango Delta in Botswana.
