India: This romantic cultural trip through Rajasthan will take you through a mix of cities and rural countryside, residing in some of the most luxurious and exclusive hotels in this beautiful part of India. You will travel through diverse landscapes and experience some of the highlights of Rajasthan by private car and train journeys.
Tour Includes:
Day 1: Delhi - Jaisalmer
Arrive at Delhi airport and transfer to your hotel. After breakfast you will have a city tour with your guide, visiting the main cultural and historical sites of this fascinating city. Highlights include a visit to the new town to see Rajpati Bravhan and India gate, and in the old town, the spice market, Jama Majid Mosque and the Red Fort. The tour will end will a visit to the Raj Ghat memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. You will then be transferred to the train station to board your overnight train to Jaisalmer. (B)
Day 2: Jaisalmer
On arrival to Jaisalmer, you will be met off the train and taken to your tented accommodation in the desert. (B)
Day 3: Jaisalmer
Today you will have a full day city tour of Jaisalmer and the surrounding area. The day will start with a visit to Gadisar Lake with its old temples built between the 16th and 19th Centuries; you will then visit the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort and the Delwara Jain temples within it. Return to your hotel in the desert. (B)
Day 4: Jaisalmer
At leisure at The Serai. (B)
Day 5: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
You will be taken by private vehicle from your hotel in Jaisalmer to Jodhpur, a journey of approximately four and a half hours. (B)
Day 6: Jodhpur- Rohet
Today you will visit the main sights of Jodphur with your local guide before continuing your journey to Rohet. The day will include a visit to the Majestic Meherangarh Fort, stopping at the royal cenotaph Jaswhat Thada en route. The Meherangarh fort sprawls across a 125m high-hill, and is entered through a series of seven gates built by the reigning Jodphur Maharajas who each extended to the fort over the centuries. You will then be taken down to the old city to visit the central bazaar which sprawls from the clock tower. Transfer to Rohet. (B, D)
Day 7: Rohet
At leisure at the Mihir Garh. A village safari is included in your stay here, details of which can be arranged on arrival to the hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 8: Rohet - Khamli Ghat - Deogarh
Late morning pick up from your hotel to Marwar Junction where you will enjoy the regional two hour train ride through the Khamli Ghats and on to the Aravalli plateau, a journey that was made famous by Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, The Man Who Would be King. At the end of this spectacular trip you will be transferred to your hotel in Deogarh (B)
Day 9: Deogarh
Day at leisure. (B)
Day 10: Deogarh - Kumbhalgarh- Ranakpur- Udaipur
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Udaipur, stopping at various sites of interest en route. You will visit the stunning Kumbhalgarh 15th Century Fort in the Aravalli Mountains. You will then continue to the journey to visit Ranakpur, home to a beautiful 15th Century Jain temple made up of 29 halls and 1,444 intricately carved pillars, after which you will carry on to your hotel in Udaipur. (B)
Day 11: Udaipur
Full day city tour of Udaipur, the Lake City. Your local guide will collect you from your hotel and take you to visit the highlights of this beautiful city including the City Palace, which was built in 1559 A.D and sits on the edge of Lake Pichola, the Jagdish Temple, the Garden of the Maid's Honour ; Sahelion Ki Bari, the remarkable Eklingji Temple located about 22km from the city centre and finally to end the tour you will take the cruise on the Lake Pichola, passing by Jagniwas Island, which is home to the famous Lake palace hotel and Jagmindir Island built by Maharaja Jagat Singh. Return to your hotel. (B)
Day 12: Udaipur
Today you will have an intrepid, unusual tour of the 'city of lakes' by hot air balloon; you will be collected from your hotel by your guide and taken to the launch site. This is a fantastic way to see this beautiful city. (B)
Day 13: Udaipur - Devigarh
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Devigarh. (B)
Day 14; Udaipur - Jaipur
Day at leisure. This evening your guide will take you to the train station in Udaipur for your overnight train journey to Jaipur, the Pink City. (B)
Day 15: Jaipur
Arrival transfer to your hotel in Jaipur. Day to begin to explore Jaipur at your own leisure. (B)
Day 16: Jaipur
Today you will have a tour of the 'pink city' of Jaipur, you will be collected from your hotel by your driver and guide. You will visit the fascinating City Palace Museum, the Palace of the Winds and the old Royal Observatory built by the founder and namesake of the modern city Jai Singh II. You will also go to the stunning Amber Fort, 9kms from town. Return to your hotel. (B)
Day 17: Jaipur - Delhi
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Jaipur and transferred to the airport in Delhi where your tour ends. (B)
