Argentina is famous for its cosmopolitan capital, its rugged and windswept Patagonian landscapes, vast National Parks, Glaciers and fantastic wine production. This Classic Argentina Adventure itinerary spends 17 days taking in all of this; you will be guided around the country with knowledgeable local guides, taken on boat trips and treks, wine tasting and into the Andes. While this certainly isn’t all Argentina has to offer, it’s an in depth insight into the depths of Patagonia while exploring the milder climates of Buenos Aires and Mendoza.
Tour Includes:
Day 1: Buenos Aires
On arrival to Buenos Aires you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel in the city centre. You will then have the rest of the day to begin to get to know Buenos Aires at your own leisure.
Day 2: Buenos Aires
You will be collected from your hotel and taken on a tour of the highlights of this cosmopolitan capital. The tour includes the iconic “La Boca”, the colourfully painted village full of interesting arts and crafts and the burial place of Eva Peron. After lunch you will head to the stunning Palermo Garden, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Colon Opera Theatre. You will have the afternoon free to enjoy Buenos Aires at your own leisure. (B)
Day 3: Buenos Aires
Argentina is famous for the Tango dance which originated in the suburbs of Buenos Aires in Argentina. This morning you will have a tango lesson to try your hand at this World famous dance and this evening you will be able to enjoy watching the professionals at a dinner and tango show, where return transfers to your hotel will be arranged for you. (B)
Day 4: Buenos Aires - Ushuaia
Today you will be picked up from your hotel for your transfer and taken to the airport in plenty of time for your flight to Ushuaia. On arrival your local guide will be waiting to meet you and take you to your hotel. (B)
Day 5: Tierra del Fuego National Park
Today's excursion will take you into the Tierra del Fuego National Park. You will be picked up from your hotel to the National Park entrance and will take "The Train to the End of the World" through to Pipo River Valley to Ensenada Bay, before enjoying a trek skirting the Roca Lake and Lapataia River. At the end of the day you will be taken back to your hotel in the city centre. (B)
Day 6: Beagle Channel
Today you will take to the waters of the Beagle Channel on a hydrofoil, crossing the channel to les Eclaireurs Lighthouse which is on a small island beyond the southernmost tip of the continent. You will then continue to Sea Lion's Island where you will be able to enjoy the wildlife continuing towards Bird's Island to see the Magellanic and Imperial cormorants, giant albatrosses, petrels, squads and other species of sea bird. At the end of the day you will be taken back to your hotel. (B)
Day 7: Ushuaia - El Calafate
Today you will fly from Ushuaia to El Calafate and transferred to your new accommodation by your guide when you arrive. (B)
Day 8: El Calafate
Today you will visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, the only advancing glacier in South America. You will be taken to viewing platforms at the face of the glacier before crossing to the shores close to the glacier by boat to embark on a short mini-trekking on the glacier itself. (B)
Day 9: El Calafate - Bariloche
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the airport in time for your flight to Bariloche. On arrival you will be met by a local guide and taken to your hotel. (B)
Day 10: Bariloche
Today you will be taken to the stables and teamed up with your horse for the day's riding excursion in the Andean Lakes of Patagonia. You will have a three-hour horseback ride among some of the best scenery in the area. (B, L)
Day 11: Bariloche
Today you will be taken to the lakeside where you will embark on a half-day excursion kayaking on the lake, enjoying the amazing surrounding scenery. This is a great way to enjoy a serene and peaceful journey through this ruggedly beautiful part of Patagonia. (B)
Day 12: Bariloche - Mendoza
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport in plenty of time for your flight to Mendoza. When you arrive you will be met by a local guide and taken to your hotel. (B)
Day 13: Mendoza
Today you will have a full day wine tour of the vineyards of Mendoza, which are famed for Malbec. Depending on the day you will visit wineries in the Luján de Cuyo, Maipú and the Uco Valley regions and wine tasting is included. You will be taken back to your hotel in the city centre at the end of the day. (B)
Day 14: Mendoza
The Alta Montaña (High Mountains) excursion is an unforgettable day out that will take you to visit the most interesting points in the area: Potrerillos and its impressive Dyke, Uspallata Valley, the Historical Bridge over Picheuta River, Punta de Vacas, Los Penitentes ski resort, the Inca Bridge, Aconcagua Vantage Point, and Las Cuevas. (B)
Day 15: Mendoza - Santiago
Today you will take a flight from Mendoza to Santiago; here your tour will end and you can continue your journey home. (B)
