The ethos of Wild frontiers is to provide unique and stylish small group tours that combine the highlights of the region with some of the lesser known wonders. Where many claim to get ‘off-the-beaten-track’, our genuine passion for exploration means that we are constantly sourcing out new places and experiences which our clients then benefit from.
Running a maximum of 100 Group Tours a year – touring, trekking, horse riding, skiing and chill-out breaks – we opt for quality rather than quantity, and use guides with a passion for travel and knowledge of their particular region. Always using the road less travelled we get you into the homes of the locals – be they princes or shepherds – and many of the secret places that will make your trip unique. We believe that a small group size is imperative for this kind of travel and we therefore keep our maximum number to 12.
Also, understanding that some of the best times are had en soul, we don’t cram every day with group activities but leave you plenty of time to explore or relax, by yourselves. There are no flag-waving guides with us – we offer specialist group travel for the independently minded traveller.
This passion for travel has led us to opening up regions previously perceived as closed or out of bounds to travellers: Afghanistan, Colombia, Kashmir and Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier to name a few. These are often places that appeal to the adventurer within and we see it as our role to empower our clients to make their decisions about travelling with all the facts at their fingertips.
Each Wild Frontiers group tours combines a unique blend of luxury and adventure, an interesting variety of transport and activities and fascinating cross-cultural interaction. We uncover the lives of the people as well as exploring the landscape, history, culture and cuisine and ultimately leave our clients with the warm satisfaction of having journeyed beneath each region’s surface and discovered the heartbeat within.
Most of our escorted trips are listed simply as group tours, however, to help you navigate the site we have categorised some into more specific groups. Please see the info boxes on the right.
Rather than run tours that are simple to organise and cost effective to run -
usually meaning the use of large, often-franchised hotels, coaches and an unwieldy group size - we
specialise in giving our clients something more creative and individual. As such we spend a great deal
of time researching the best places to stay, the most interesting and comfortable means of transport and
the most convenient international flight routes. In addition, our average maximum group size is 12.
Original:capable of thinking or acting in an independent, creative, or individual manner.
With the wealth of knowledge we have of our destinations, and the dynamic and creative team we have assembled in the London office, at Wild Frontiers we pride ourselves at being
able to create itineraries that give you something different. We don't opt for the easiest route or most convenient hotel... unless they are the best way to go and the nicest place to stay.
One of the things we love most is developing real adventures that give you a truly special and unforgettable experience.
Each Wild Frontiers journey is unique in its combination of location, route, guides and service. However, on every Wild Frontiers tour we go out of our way to produce
something extra, exclusive to us and our clients - be it our own mountain hideaway in the Hindu Kush, visiting the Tibetan children of Wild Frontiers supported schools, or
an elephant ride into the jungle in India - designed to give you a unique experience on your journey.
Luxury:something desirable for comfort or enjoyment, but not indispensable.
In the past people used to think of this word as implying excessive comfort at excessive expense: be that in the form of exquisite foods, high-performance
cars or fluffy, white towelling dressing gowns on your hotel's bathroom door. Not so today. Today we think of luxury as things we most desire to enhance
our quality of life: space, time, and perhaps most importantly, experiences. At Wild Frontiers we specialise in offering our guests as much of these
all-to-rare commodities as we can and as a result help them gain more from their holiday, and, dare we say it, their life. To stand on top of a pass in the
Mountains of Heaven with nothing but snow-capped peaks and a pristine world before you, to dance around a bonfire with a pagan tribe high in the Hindu Kush,
or to spend a lazy, timeless day drifting across one of Kashmir's lakes are all luxuries you will never forget. And occasionally, we'll throw in the
dressing gown as well!
Adventure:an unsual, exciting and possibly dangerous activity such as a journey or experience,
or the excitement produced by such an activity.
At Wild Frontiers we specialise in both 'hard' and 'soft' adventure. On some of our group tours you can find yourself camping in the wilds of Afghanistan, riding
across the high Andes, or rolling over the Indus' Grade 5 rapdis; similarly you could be sleeping in a four-poster bed, wallowing in an infinity pool, or (very occassionaly) enjoying a spa treatment!
On all our trips we take the safety of our clients very seriously and always act with this in our minds. Through our extensive list of contacts in each region - be they journalists,
embassy staff, politicians or aid workers - we are able to gain invaluable information that helps make your trip as safe as possible. But that said, we will not treat you like children
and ultimately leave many decisions relating to extracurricular activities to yourselves.
Regardless of the type of holiday undertaken, at Wild Frontiers we understand that each one of our clients is an
independent person, that has their own requirements and interests. Whilst for obvious reasons we encourage and help nurture
a good group dynamic, we also go out of our way to try to give everyone what they want. For example, you might have been to
Delhi before and would like to do something other than what the rest of the group have organised. As long as you let the guide
know when and where you will be back we are very happy for you to go off and do your own thing. Similarly, if you wish
to bow out of an afternoon activity you will not offend us. We remember it is your holiday, not ours.
We are now excited to offer a real adventure, an expedition, across uncharted territories on a route that has not be accomplished by adventure tourist before.

Financial protection is something that we don't normally think about until something goes wrong, of course - and that's
the time when we regret not having looked into it properly. It's a complex issue, particularly in the travel industry –
but you can relax when you book an AITO holiday because AITO members comply with the highest standards of consumer protection.
Every AITO holiday is backed not only by AITO's Quality Charter but also by full financial protection. Quite simply, if an AITO operator
goes out of business for any reason, you will (depending on your holiday dates) either receive a full refund or will be able to complete
your holiday as planned, with repatriation arranged at the end of your holiday. You will not be required to pay anything else and
all arrangements will be made on your behalf. To learn find out more about AITO, please visit the AITO website:
