Wiild Frontiers tour leader, Dee, and her group of revellers have been celebrating Christmas and New Year at the fabulous Castle Bijaipur in Rajasthan.
Dee writes -
Its the big day...but before we are sort out out saris, we are going to plant trees at the Wild Frontier 'forest' (well, it will be soon) . This is not your 'prince Charles like' tree planting, we have a JCB! The ground has large rocks so its well needed, the group are happy, it looked like hard work. We each write our name and the date on our tree guard, and everyone is so happy, new years eve is special, and planting the tree is like leaving a little bit of you in India.
We have our last relaxing day, the last nature walk and massages. The atmosphere is sad because we are leaving, but also exciting due to the preparations for the party tonight.
We are all in the party mood, the guys have Rajastani Turbins and the ladies have saris, complete with bindis. The Castle is adorned with flowers, everywhere, hanging from walls, on all the paths, its a sight to see. We have some tasty cocktails and the musicians and dancers have limitless energy. We are fed lots of nibbles before dinner, we even have a dancefloor on the lawn that lights up! Everyone is dancing, even the staff, its an unforgetable night. We toast the new year throughtout the evening. (its new year somewhere!) at midnight we drink champagne and watch the fireworks. There has been so much effort made for the party, we are all lost for words. Imagine the best new years eve party you have ever been to, and multipy it countless times.....Wow!
